Contributing as an international legal expert Mr. Piracha shared views on sustainable investment, and leveraging foreign direct investment for climate change mitigation in developing countries, at The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress).
A brainchild of the UAE Government, the AIM Congress has established itself as a leading investment platform in the Middle East.
World Investment Forum 2023
Mr. Piracha had the unique honour of representing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its 57 Member States at the World Investment Forum. He was invited to share views on investment policy related principles as part of a panel hosted by the Islamic Development Bank.
High-Level International Investment Agreements Conference 2023
Mr. Piracha spoke at the High-Level International Investment Agreements Conference hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). A testament to his expertise, Mr. Piracha contributes alongside a distinct group of international legal experts from across the globe – on the newly launched Multi-Stakeholder Platform on the International Investment Agreement (IIA) reforms .
This Platform under the leadership of UNCTAD will identify ways to fast track IIA reforms at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels while providing avenues for knowledge sharing, exchange of best practices and exploration of innovative ideas.
Chairing 57 Member State negotiations at the OIC, Morocco, 2022
Under my Chairmanship, OIC Member States have successfully broken a decades old deadlock this year pertaining to the creation of a new legal mechanism and permanent organ for the resolution of investment disputes amongst OIC Member States.

Pakistan (Riko Dig) investor-state dispute, I discuss the award of nearly USD 6 billion (including interest) against Pakistan, while building upon my views alongside panelists which include Prof. Louis. As a guest speaker, Mr. Piracha shared views with leading entrepreneurs and CEO’s on the unique legal challenges that tech companies face and discussed ways to best navigate them.
